Steelwind Industries Inc., a steel fabrication company based in Oak Creek, has acquired Tomahawk-based Universal Industries LLC and Milwaukee-based Hall Steel Corp., for an undisclosed amount.

Steelwind Industries, a large capacity metal fabrication company, works on mining equipment, tanks, and architectural metal fabrication. Universal Industries specializes in medium-duty fabrication. Steelwind Industries bought Universal Industries’ assets, customer base and several pieces of equipment, according to a press release by Steelwind.

“The machining capabilities that we were able to add, as a result of this acquisition, will be a response to demands, and an opportunity to become a one-stop shop for our customers,” said Jason Geiger, vice president of Steelwind Industries. “The acquisition has already added five new jobs to our Oak Creek facility.”

Hall Steel, which is owned by Scott Miller, is heat-treating fabrication and flame cutting facility. Miller will be joining Steelwind Industries.

“The acquisition was a good fit for us and the timing was right,” Geiger said.

Reporter Denise Lockwood covers manufacturing for the Milwaukee Business Journal.
