Mason-based Forte Industries, a warehouse automation and warehouse execution software firm, has been sold to Swisslog, which creates automation solutions for hospitals, warehouses and distribution centers.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Forte, which has been in business for more than 30 years, is focused on making distribution centers the most efficient they can be, according to a Forte news release.
Swisslog, based in Buchs, Switzerland, vice president of customer support A.K. Schultz said Forte founder and CEO Gene Forte will remain an advisor at the company and the current Forte management team will also stay.
“Swisslog’s expertise in automated storage and retrieval systems and other goods-to-person technologies, combined with Forte’s capability in case conveyer and sortation systems and leadership in warehouse execution systems, results in a powerful partnership that will better serve our combined customer base,” according to a Forte news release.
Swisslog employs more than 2,300 people in roughly 20 countries.
